Eligibility — CSIR‑UGC NET (Expected 2026)
Educational / Professional Qualifications
- Candidates must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Science, Mathematics, Technology, or related disciplines from a recognized university with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/OBC‑NCL/PwD/Third Gender).
- Students in the final year of the qualifying degree may apply provisionally, provided they complete the degree with the required marks within the timeframe specified by CSIR‑UGC NET.
- Candidates with a four-year bachelor's degree (e.g., BS‑4 years, BS‑MS, B.Tech, BE) with the minimum required percentage (typically 75% for General, relaxed for reserved categories) may be eligible only for JRF and Ph.D. admission, not for Assistant Professor/Lectureship.
- All qualifications must be recognized by NTA and comply with UGC/CSIR eligibility norms.
Age, Nationality & Other Conditions
- Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Maximum age is 30 years as on the first day of the exam month.
- Age Relaxation: Up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC‑NCL/PwD/Third Gender/Women candidates. Additional relaxations may apply for research experience and ex‑servicemen as per CSIR/UGC rules.
- Assistant Professor/Lectureship & Ph.D Admission: No upper age limit.
- Candidate must be an Indian citizen (or as specified in the official notification).
- Relaxation in qualifying marks and age is applicable for SC/ST/OBC‑NCL/PwD/Third Gender/EWS candidates as per government regulations.
Note: CSIR‑UGC NET is a national eligibility test to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Lectureship/Assistant Professor, and Ph.D. admission in science and technology streams. Meeting eligibility criteria does not guarantee fellowship or appointment; final selection depends on merit and subsequent recruitment/admission rules.
Exam Pattern — CSIR-UGC NET (Expected 2026)
The CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Lectureship/Assistant Professor, and Ph.D. admission in Science and Technology disciplines. The exam is held in online CBT mode with objective-type MCQs.
