Eligibility — CTET (As per Latest NCTE Norms)
Educational Qualification
- For Paper-1 (Classes I–V): Candidate must have passed Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed), or 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- For Paper-2 (Classes VI–VIII): Candidate must have a Graduation degree and passed or appearing in the final year of 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), 1-year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed), 4-year B.A.Ed / B.Sc.Ed, or 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
- Candidates having B.Ed qualification are eligible for Paper-1 also, as per NCTE guidelines adopted by CBSE.
- All educational qualifications must be from institutions recognized by NCTE / RCI / relevant statutory authority.
Age, Nationality & Other Conditions
- No upper age limit is prescribed for appearing in the CTET exam.
- Candidate must be a citizen of India.
- CTET certificate is now valid for a lifetime, subject to conditions laid down by CBSE.
- Candidates can appear for CTET any number of times to improve their score.
- Final eligibility is subject to verification of original documents at the time of appointment by the recruiting authority.

Exam Pattern — CTET (Latest Notification)
The following exam pattern for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is based on the latest guidelines issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CTET consists of two papers — Paper-1 and Paper-2.
CTET Paper-1 (For Classes I to V)
- Exam Type: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Total Questions: 150
- Total Marks: 150
- Duration: 2 Hours 30 Minutes
- Medium of Exam: English & Hindi
- Negative Marking: No Negative Marking
