Greetings and regards from Bansal Academy! Thank you for reaching out to us with your question regarding the distribution of negative marks in CSIR NET.
Negative Marking in CSIR NET Mathematics: In the CSIR NET examination, negative marking is applied for incorrect answers. The distribution of negative marks is as follows:
Part A: Part A consists of questions related to General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, etc. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers in Part A.
Part B: Part B contains questions related to Mathematics. For each incorrect answer, a negative marking of 1/3 (one-third) of the marks allotted to that question is applied.
Part C: Part C consists of higher value questions that may test the candidate's knowledge of scientific concepts and application of scientific understanding. For each incorrect answer, a negative marking of 2/3 (two-thirds) of the marks allotted to that question is applied.
It's important for candidates to be strategic in their approach, carefully considering whether to attempt a question based on their confidence in the answer. Our coaching programs at Bansal Academy include thorough guidance on exam strategies, solving techniques, and extensive practice with previous year papers to help you excel in the CSIR NET examination.
