How many marks are required to clear the CSIR NET exam?

To clear the CSIR NET exam, candidates need to score marks above the minimum qualifying marks set by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Here’s some information:

1. Minimum Qualifying Marks:
   • The minimum qualifying marks for CSIR NET vary each year and are different for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Lectureship (LS) categories.
   • Generally, candidates need to score the following minimum percentage of marks:
     • For General and OBC category candidates: Around 40-45% aggregate marks.
     • For SC/ST and PwD category candidates: Around 35-40% aggregate marks.
2. Subject-wise Qualifying Criteria:
   • CSIR NET has subject-wise cutoffs. Candidates need to score above the subject-wise cutoff marks in their respective subjects.
3. Merit List:
   • CSIR NET exam is conducted in multiple sessions, so normalization of marks is done. A merit list is prepared based on normalized marks.
4. JRF and LS Eligibility:
   • To qualify for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), candidates need to secure marks above the JRF cutoff.
   • For Lectureship (LS), candidates need to secure marks above the LS cutoff.
5. Negative Marking:
   • It’s important to note that there is negative marking in CSIR NET exam. For each incorrect answer, 25% marks allotted to the question will be deducted.
