What are the eligibility conditions that individuals must meet to apply for the CSIR NET exam?

To apply for the CSIR NET exam, individuals must meet the following eligibility conditions:

1. Educational Qualification:

   • For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF): Candidates must have completed an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Science stream with at least 55% marks for General and OBC-NCL category (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

   • For Lectureship (LS): Candidates must have completed an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in Science stream with at least 55% marks for General and OBC-NCL category (50% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

2. Age Limit:

   • For JRF: The upper age limit for JRF is 28 years as of the closing date of application. There is a relaxation of up to 5 years for SC/ST/PwD/female/transgender candidates and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates.

   • For LS: There is no upper age limit for Lectureship.

3. Nationality:

   • Candidates must be Indian citizens.

4. Subject Eligibility:

   • Candidates must choose their subject for CSIR NET based on their educational background. The subjects include Chemical Sciences, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

5. Other Conditions:

   • Candidates who have completed an Integrated MS-PhD program or those who are in the final year of such programs are also eligible to apply.

   • Candidates pursuing a Bachelor's degree (final year) or those who have completed a Bachelor's degree and are awaiting results can also apply provisionally.
