The eligibility criteria for CSIR NET exam are as follows:

Educational Qualification:
- For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF):
  - Candidates should have an M.Sc. or equivalent degree in the relevant subject with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL).
- For Lectureship (LS):
  - Candidates should have an M.Sc. or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL).
Age Limit:
- For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the maximum age limit is 28 years as of the closing date of online application (relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL and female candidates).
- There is no upper age limit for Lectureship (LS).
Relaxation in Qualifying Marks:
- Relaxation in the qualifying marks is applicable as per the Government of India rules for SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD categories.
Candidates Pursuing Master’s Degree:
- Candidates enrolled for M.Sc. or equivalent degree are also eligible to apply. However, such candidates must complete their degree with the required percentage of marks within the validity period of two years to avail fellowship.
Subjects Eligible:
- Candidates can appear in the CSIR NET exam in the subjects of Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Earth Sciences, and Mathematical Sciences.
Nationality:
- Candidates must be Indian citizens.
Important Note:
- Candidates who have already qualified for JRF through any national level eligibility test like CSIR/UGC NET or GATE are not eligible to apply for JRF again.
